(Translated by Google) The present church stands on the site of a much older version which was built by Earl Thorfinn and existed before St Magnus of Kirkwall. After the murder of Magnus in 1117 on the Isle of Egilsay his body was taken and buried here. Many stories of miracles and visions began surrounding his tomb but before he was made a saint his remains were moved to St Magnus in Kirkwall built in his honour. It was refurbished in the 80's and has a window which honors the life of St Magnus. Before the church you walk through the cemetery. A sign currently indicates that it is closed to the public. It is located on the opposite side of the Earl of Birsay's palace. Everything clean and in perfect order. Prima della chiesa si cammina attraverso il cimitero. Un cartello attualmente indica che chiusa al pubblico. Si trova dalla parte opposta del palazzo del Conte di Birsay. Tutto pulito ed in perfetto ordine.
