Well trained efficient staff, able to handle anything that might be required, good attitude, friendly under difficult circumstances, calm, and easy to talk to. It must be hard for them to manage the facility, having both both bus, and train services, businesses on site, taxis, family pickups/drops, people who seem to just loiter, and people who often go to the wrong office to ask for help. This can often mean that the wrong people are dealing with a query that is nothing to do with them, and they might feel they are neither paid, or trained to cope with those people, who are often upset or might feel vulnerable. Locals get angry if there is a weather event, or if there is some kind of technical issue, because no one understands that it's not magic, while we all watch TV, and it seems like everything happens in the blink of an eye, not the four weeks of pulling nights. And what do you get, "my coffee is cold" and even if you offer a free one, 'and a cake', next week the same person says, my "sandwich is soggy". Or they go and tell the whole cabin, and suddenly everyone wants a free one, and you've only got four cakes to cope with that. But somehow, you managed to get those 'tunnocks' on the front line at exactly the right moment, to save a few wee tears...! Every day is training, the more days you have, and the more people you see, the better you are, at going above, and there is no thanks from anyone, often even the boss tells you all the things you did wrong, and spends only a quick 'well handled' for the stuff you did right. My advice. Take the stuff they did right, focus on making that better, keep that up, and eventually the wrong stuff looks like it was just a small part of what they did right. Take a price of paper, and for every well done, tic it, every pat on the back, ever thanks from a customer, if a dog smiles at you, then farts, then, tic that page. Guys, by the end of the week, you are looking at both sides of that page filled, and you need a new sheet. You don't need your boss to do that, but you will know, so do it! The place is from one moment to the next, a hotbed, of activity, it must be one of those jobs, that when your shift is done, you sit down in the common room, take a deep breath, and say 'see you tomorrow'... I'd say well done! It's hard to get things right, when the moment demands it!
