I was in bothwell Castle care home for respite on arrival the home looks lovely, majority of the staff are friendly however I was left in my room with very little or no help whatsoever I'm 88 and of sound mind but I have mobility issues and the staff were well aware before I went in that I needed help with getting around and getting dressed I was left most day to struggle myself to name a occasion I was up very early one morning and was struggling to get back into bed I called on a nurse who came in and sayed " what would you do if you were in your home" and walked out absolute disgrace from a 5 star home, I was told there would be activities on daily to which there wasn't and the food wasn't nice either, I came to the home to get looked after and a rest I came out completely exhausted all I payed for was nice carpets and wallpaper the amount of money I payed out my hard working earnings all went down the drain, if you are thinking of going in hear fir a luxury break I would put your money else were

On arriving at the care home for a visit ,I struggle sometimes with reporting my lft result on the nhs website as it takes me a little longer, the letters move about at times and i miss words occasionally. As I was reporting my resuilt on my phone ,at the foyer and taken a little longer than normal, I over heard the receptionest tall dark haired lady comment how she was not stoping her work to help me as I had manage perfertly well the other day ,I do wish people would not take for granted unrecognised disabilitys especially in a caring enviroment ,I am Dyslexic I was not happy.

It is truly a home from home, residents are treated as family. Excellent staff who really do care and give great respect to visiting family, nothing is a trouble and family are also greeted with a warm welcome. We live a distance away and visit roughly every three weeks however weekly phone calls and FaceTime are a great comfort to us. We feel as if we really have made friends with the staff. It is so assuring to know our relative is in such safe hands and has her hair and nails down as she always did! Thank you for you kindness and caring attitude keep up the good work as I am sure you will. Stay safe hopefully it wont be long before our lives are back to normal.
