Wonderful stay in a beautiful location. Mette was accomodating and helpful offering plenty of local insight. The Woodside lodge had a welcoming (and well insulated!) interior which made for a very enjoyable and comfortable atmosphere. Plenty of information packs on every possible activity nearby. Our only regret was that we couldnt stay longer!

I stayed in the cottage for a few nights with some friends. It was absolutely stunning , despite the obvious beauty of the surrounding nature the cottage itself was clean , stylish and cosy. Mette and Cornelius our hosts were so friendly and always on hand to help. Mette ran us through where everything was and how everything worked in the cottage. We had such a nice few days, we didnt want to leave!!! 100% we will definitely be returning!!!

We are 4 travellers (I, my wife, and her two cousins) and stayed in the Mews cottage for 3 nights. I want to describe here what exactly happened to me, and how I feel based on what happened. The host lady (Mette), was nice and kind at first place to receive us as guests. She explained to us what and where the necessary things are in the cottage. Rooms are good looking, and actually it is a decent cozy place to stay in my impression. However, we faced problems with the water heating system. On the night of arrival, we wanted to take warm showers before we go sleep. In the first shower, the water was getting cold towards the end around 8 mins. When the next person went in it was ice cold after few minutes. We only pressed one boost button before this and according to them, pressing this button wouldnt cool down the tank. I then contacted the hostess (Mette) to solve the issue and she came over to us to help. She wasnt able to solve it as she didnt know what was wrong and what to do. In my impression, a host should be able to know things they installed for the accommodation in order to prevent the situation like this. But it is ok as it was not her fault that something went wrong. I would say rather, it was problematic that she talked to us in defensive manner, like - you must have pressed somethingyou must have pressed a lot of buttons and kept cutting us off when we tried to explain we only pressed one boost button. She contacted her husband (Cornelius) and he was away at that time. She wanted him to help us for the heating issue. She was telling me, that either he is in the bed or out with his family, so we should wait until next day. After midnight 12:36am, Cornelius called me twice and I missed his calls. I called him back after and talked to him. However the problem wasnt solved. Later in the morning Mette wrote me sms that I rang her husband in early hours (apparently 3am) because I couldnt find a cutlery. But I was texting mainly that I thought I figured out the hot water issue. When she first showed us where everything was, only my wife was following her around to see and the rest of us were waiting in the hallway so we didnt see properly where the cutlery drawer was. She went to bed though so I didnt know until the next day. There was not only this situation. And I wished to upload my all screenshots for the messages between us and hosts as evidence. However, it is not allowed to upload here. I would like to write more honestly what happened between us and the hosts while we were staying and after we left. But I dont wish to write down all the details as if I am attacking them. We spent time to email them about everything in detail and the surcharge but they didnt reply. One thing for sure I would say that I regret to make the trip to this cottage. It is not just about the hot water issue every day but how they responded and managed the problem. They werent accountable and said only you had this issue. This is not how hosts should respond to a customer or guest.

Had a brilliant time at Ardoch Lodge. The cabin was very nice and kitted out with everything we needed. Mette and Cornelius were great and explained everything well upon arrival. We asked about things in the area to do and we were given some great suggestions: pubs, walks, activities and views. If you are looking for a cosy cabin with lovely scenery surrounding it then I highly recommend this place! We will be back again!
