We drove from Sanquar and came to this cafe 2 or 3 time's on a Saturday afternoon as we took the dog's for a walk there. These initial times we got a slice of cake and a coffee and tea and was asked if we wanted ice cream or cream with the cake we chose ice cream and got a small scoop and it was around 6 every time. Last Saturday we came in and got the same cake of choice and was charged 2.35 more when I questioned it the girl said prices had gone up turning away and walking off which was actually very rude. I know prices have gone up I shop every week but she could have just handed me a receipt and it would have been cleared up. As I was annoyed at her attitude I phoned next day and asked for a manager. This was looked into and I was contacted. This woman who called was apologetic but a bit sweeping and obviously couldn't care less if we came back or not. She informed me that ice cream didn't come with the cake which we got the first 3 time's and the cake was called a gateaux and is now 6 and with the coffee and tea it would actually now be about 12? The staff there don't seem to know what's going on and there's no price list anywhere and they need lessons in how to communicate with people. We go for coffee's and a cake often in Glasgow Ayr Kilmarnock Edinburgh and have never been charged over 10 so I won't be going back. We had a lovely afternoon tea and cake in Cumnock in much nicer surroundings Drumlanrig cafe is like a greasy spoon it is a chip shop so we will heading elsewhere with the dog's in future. We are not looking for cheap just fair and nice people and that makes all the difference.

Stopped for lunch, as recommended by friends. So disappointed. The staff made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable as a loan female, and they were female themselves. It was quiet and there were plenty of staff. I was told where to sit and then ignored. It took over 10 minutes to get a menu, then at least another 10 to take my order, only because I asked when the waitress went to a nearby table. Other people came in and were welcomed and served immediately. The food was okay but if I hadn't been a stranger, and not known where else to eat, I would not have stuck it out. Very much a locals cafe I guess, and not the usual friendly Scottish welcome I am used to. I was so uncomfortable I actually left my coat behind, which a friendly customer spotted. The whole experience, as a recent widow learning to travel alone, made me feel pretty low. I'll never go there again. Dietary restrictions: They did ask if I wanted chocolate on my oat milk cappuccino, and that was a positive as I'm lactose intolerant.
