A truly exceptional venue. I would happily go back with my family just to chat with the custodian, Glenn. My wife would love to hear some of his audible history recordings. I could pour over the site for hours quite happily. My kids (4,7) loved the visit. Cut short by a tight ferry time. We plan to return. My daughter has cerebral palsy, and struggles with ladders and steep stairs. She was extatic to be offered the chance to try and climb the steps. Not in a hesitant way, but in a way that gave confidence. The steps are very steep and i climbed behind her for safety... but it was fantastic. To acheive the feat of climbing the tower. This tower is NOT wheelchair viable. Glenn has a fantastic way with the kids, not your typical doting wee kid style. He has a matter of fact, pragmatic and honest style I found most pleasant and refreshing. His interest in the subject matter was obvious, his depth of knowledge and his love of Hoy palpable. Book in advance if at all possible.
