This is the equivalent of these padlocks that people stick on bridges. At least they used a fallen tree, this time.

Not sure how to rate this since as a coin stump it is fun to look at, however it causes damage to the woodland habitat and, even though pushing coins into tree stumps has become a popular thing to do, the National Trust specifically request that you dont do this since it causes harm to the tree itself (even dead stumps support a huge amount of other life) and also the immediate environment. Enjoy the peace and beauty of the Hermitage, a National Trust property, without leaving anything behind but footprints.

This is the biggest coin stump but i found at least 4 on my travels and im sure there will be others as you walk from the car park. Interesting but this has been filled up pretty well so you will struggle to get a coin into it which is actually not allowed despite its popularity. Perhaps use one of the many others scattered throughout the forest trails.
