My elderly mother was in the Lockhart suite for a week, for alleged rehab after a severe infection. I wouldnt even let my dog stay there. A dementia patient who had fall and banged her head on a hard floor which was followed by a seizure a few days later however was still deemed fit to be released home the following day. After the seizure I was told shed be in for at least another few days, but the following day Dr Santa Maria deemed her fit to go home - Id like to hear this doctors thoughts if that happened to their own elderly mother. I was told to come and collect her ASAP as they needed the bed. Im horrified at this decision, she couldnt even walk more than 3 steps without near collapsing. Her paperwork had been completed to say her rehab was complete and she was mobile, clearly their definition of mobile is concerning. They also tried to release her wearing nothing but a hospital gown as theyd lost her clothes..and just expected us to take her out as she was and forget about her clothes Absolute disgraceful and downright shocking treatment of elderly vulnerable people, if your relatives are admitted here be worried, very worried. My mother ended up being rushed to hospital again the following day, shed suffered a stroke / heart attack and they hadnt even noticed. Gross negligence is an understatement of how they treated my mother and Id hate this to happen to someone else Just to provide a final update, one day after my mum was released from Stonehouse she suffered another seizure and died 2 weeks later The response to my complaint was full of excuses and no acknowledgement of anything wrong. They appear to defend defend defend to avoid compensation claims, not what I was looking for as that wont change anything. Completely unacceptable and I will now be escalating to the Regulator
