Stirling Old Town Jail

Self tour is quite underwhelming and was an immense waste. Quite disappointed and dissatisfied.

Went along to the live tour with my wife and 2 kids, bit of a delay to the start of the tour but then the guide came along and the show started. The guided part of the tour isn't very long, maybe 30 mins in total but it is really good and gives you a feel for history of the jail and the penal system. After the guided tour you get to wander around the remainder if the jail at your leisure, again it was interesting. Plenty of parking was available which was good. In all I think we were there for about 2 hours. I don't think I would have gone if I didn't get the live tour and given its only 2 hours would suggest doing it on same day as the castle. Over all a great tour

We took an impromptu trip to sterling to see some of the sites. Sadly, this was disappointing. The website said nothing about the proper guided tours only being on the weekends due to short staff, so we were left to just wonder with an audio device we could hardly hear. The entire experience was based on the entertainment of the guided tour and chance to be taken infront of the judge and tried. Those on a tight budget beware. Don't go during the week.
