It's been a while since I last visited Lochpark, but it is on my to-do list when time becomes available. Situated down a single track road just past Drummuir, on the Drummuir to Dufftown road, this is a great place to unwind and enjoy the silence. A large body of relatively shallow water (will be deeper in areas, however I've yet to find out) surrounded by towering pine trees, this is a fantastic place to recharge your batteries and soak in the calm. Lochpark is a secluded area set down on the valley floor, hence the water, with the Drummuir to Dufftown road climbing all the time on its west side. Slightly higher, along the west bank runs the Keith to Dufftown railway (volunteer run) which operates around spring to autumn taking visitors from town to town. I have canoed at Lochpark and found the tranquility most beneficial and I am aware they host a lot sailing, canoeing and other watery events for kids and adults alike where the only distraction is the beauty around you. I think there are walking paths around the park however I've never tried or looked for same but I'm sure staff there would keep you right. Speaking of staff, I've always found them very helpful and obliging and I'm sure they will afford the same courtesy to you. This is a calm body of water so any paddling, sailing etc will be at your pace and not rapids or tides, so perfect for beginners. Hope this helps, cheers.
