Great workmen

Boiler packed up on a freezing Saturday morning in mid December. House became very cold, very quickly. Assumed that was Christmas and New Year ruined, as all tradesmen likely to be fully booked up to their Christmas holidays and then unavailable for at least a week. Phoned around anyway out of desperation, Adrian said he had jobs to do away up at the coast but would try and swing by and take a look if he had time. I assumed the worst and phoned 2 other places: no engineer availability until next week. Spent the morning collecting wood for woodburner. However, Adrian arrived early afternoon and tried everything he could do revive boiler. We had heat again temporarily, and he loaned us several oil-filled radiators in case it died again before Monday. Given the age and condition of boiler we decided a new one was necessary. Long story shortened: we had a brand new boiler installed and working by Tuesday. Can't recommend Adrian and his son highly enough, proper old-fashioned honest and hard working heating engineers. Much better (just my opinion, obviously) than the big plumbing and heating companies, whose employees tend to lack that added motivation and drive somehow. They have a safety net of secure employment, which the self employed don't have, maybe. Plus the overheads of a large outfit adds to the price you pay, which is another big plus from my perspective of desperately needing to keep costs down at this time of year! Anyway, house is now toasty warm and new boiler is just quietly sipping away at the heating oil, unlike it's horribly thirsty and noisy old predecessor. 5 out of 5 stars for BCS.
