The Macallan Estate

Ive visited a few distilleries in Scotland and always felt welcome. Not at The Macallan. As soon as you arrive at the estate gates youre met by a very polite bouncer in a Bentley that only lets you past if youve booked an experience in advance. Just wanted to go in to quickly visit the grounds and see the new building which I find quite impressive, but unfortunately that wasnt possible. Obviously theyre free to run the distillery as they please, but Ive found the whole experience quite off-putting and dont think Ill be coming back any other time.

Not a great image of your brand. Having someone wait outside closed gates in a Bentley, to turn you away even from visiting the shop was not only extremely unprofessional but adds to the pretencious and elitist image theyve been going for since the refurb of the visitor centre. They've lost sight of what the brand originally was and is going in a scary direction that other distillerys should steer well clear of. Disappointed and will not visit again
