My daughter Isabel (11) visited these stables twice during our recent stay in the Shetland Islands and Dorothy could not have made her more welcome. It was without doubt the highlight, of what was an amazing two weeks, for her. Thank for your wonderful hospitality Dorothy, Izzy is already planning her next visit!!

We had a really fantastic ride with Dorothy on her lovely Icelandic horses. Dorothy catered really well to our different experience levels (one experienced and one novice rider). The ride was extremely scenic and Dorothy provided lots of interesting insights into Shetland life, and I also learned a lot more about Icelandic horses. Lovely Orri and Hrdur (sharing with a chicken) enjoying a meal after our ride.

Highly recommend Houlls Horses and Hounds for horse trekking in the Shetlands! Dorothy is super welcoming and incredibly knowledgable about Icelandic horses and horse culture. The 2 hour trek was a fantastic ride with great scenery and lots of opportunities to experience the Tolt gait. The horses are all gorgeous and so well cared for, it was a wonderful experience.
