    If there is a zero star, I will give them a zero. You should avoid them if you are looking for a property to rent or you are a landlord. Everything was fine until the kitchen drain was blocked in Feb 2022; I tried to unblock it with a plumber by myself; it's my personal reason that caused the blockage. But the plumber informed us a professional jet machine was needed as the blockage was in the pipe outside the property. I contacted Thorntons and gave all details. The plumber came to check the problems inside of the property (the previous plumber had told me the problem was outside) in March and tried to solve it(he didn't make it). No bills were sent to me. I kept sending emails and phone calls to Thortons to get the blockage sorted. Until May 2022, a plumber company came to check it and said the problem was outside of the property. They tried to unblock it with a rod, but they didn't solve the problem as A JET MACHINE IS NEEDED!!!!! Due to the drain pipe in the kitchen not closed when they pushed the rod inside of the outside pipe, wastewater came out from the kitchen due to the pressure!!!!!!! ( the toilet pipe ground floor was connected together) The wastewater was pressed to the dishwasher as well. After that, I received a phone call from Thorntons; they said I needed to pay for the bill as it was my own fault that caused the blockage. I said I refused the bill as they didn't solve the problem and messed up my house, and it smells disgusting in the kitchen and living room. I need compensation from the plumber. The staff said a very clear "no compensation", and there were 48 hours for me to pay the bill. I was very disappointed with the service as they should try to solve the problem on the tenant side or the landlord side. I didn't want to waste time with them, so I paid all the bills and ended my tenancy by the end of July 2022. I have been to DUNDEE for more than 12 years. I am a landlord and also a tenant. I have experience with more than five property agents. Without a doubt, Thorntons is the worst one!

    I recently applied for 3 student properties for 2018. I handed in what I thought was my complete application, held together with a large green paperclip. However, shortly after I left the store I noticed that there were some pages that had fallen out in my bag. I returned with these. It had been about 5 minutes since leaving. I told the lady at the desk that these pages had fallen out and asked if she could get the rest of my application so i could put them together. She said she had already taken it upstairs and couldn't get it but she would put them together. She took my name. I said it was probably the only application with a large green paperclip but she seemed to have stopped listening. That was the first sign something was wrong, but I didn't think too much of it, thanked her and left. The deadline for replies came and went. I needed some of my references back so I asked for my application back. They agreed and said to come in the next day. I did, but when they presented my 'application' it was actually only the pages that had fallen out, with a post it note saying it was 'incomplete'. I asked why they were not able to put it together but no-one could give me a straight answer. They kept repeating how they had 'hundreds' of applications. The grey-haired woman wearing glasses even implied it was my fault by saying 'we can only accept applications handed in all at once'. Well then why didn't anyone tell me that when I first handed in the fallen pages? Why was I assured that my application would be put together? I would gladly have waited for them to retrieve the rest of my application so that I could put them together myself and return it. On top of this they could not even find my original application, nor could they say if they still had it or not. I don't understand how their file system makes it impossible for them to retrieve submitted applications. Surely they sort it by name, or address or something? Why do they have to search through every application if they know both my name and the property I applied for? My trust has been betrayed by this company. They should not say that they can and will do something and then proceed to not do it at all. They didn't even put a post-it on my fallen pages saying to put them together. If they can't be trusted to put two groups of paper together then they can't be trusted to lease a house to you. I would recommend that you avoid applying here unless you're absolutely out of options for housing. To the company - please don't make empty promises and then try to blame the customer when they aren't kept.

    Disappointed with the service from this company. I wrote about a week in advance to see some properties to rent. Eventually got a reply saying they could show me the properties on days I had said I wasn't going to be there. When I reminded them of the days I was available, I received no reply. I finally rang the office and someone showed me one of the properties I was interested in seeing but had no idea that I was expecting to see another property, which in the end I never got to see. It was disappointing because I was very interested in this property and drove out myself to see it but obviously couldn't see inside.
