Exceptionally poor experience. My niece left a deposit of 500 for a car one week ago today, but changed her mind the next day and communicated this to the company. My niece never visited the site and put a deposit down blind on the car based on the website information. Since then, this company have retained the deposit and refused to answer her queries via phone and email or to repay the deposit. I called on her behalf today and spoke to Scott McGill (who initially denied he was a director) who then became quite angry when I noted that he was indeed a director of the company through Companies House information. Scott then tried to justify the retention of the deposit as they had incorrectly deemed the car to be sold when it was quite clear that this was not the case. Scott then hung up and switched the company phone over to voice message. The facts of the matter in this case are irrefutable - it is the theft of a refundable deposit coupled with slippery and untrustworthy behaviour from supposed motor trade professionals. It now looks likely that we will have to involve trading standards and small claims in ensuring these monies, put forward in good faith, are returned to our niece who suffers from anxiety. To give a young lady the runaround in this manner is simply inexcusable. I would strongly recommend that this company us avoided at all costs.

Well if you want a vehicle whose battery fails within 48 hours despite all those "checks" they do, and a company which refuses to pay for a replacement. (unless its cheap band unsuitable). If you want a car whose brake system fails within weeks. If you want a to deal with a company which ignores all communications , Hillington is definitely the place to go. ****EDIT, IN REPONSE TO HILLINGTONS REPLY. Hillington suggests that I "correct them if they are wrong" So I will. The vehicle was not repaired at a friend's garage it was repaired at a local garage. I barely know the man. If I had a friend for a mechanic I would have had him check this car and I certainly wouldn't have bought it. We live on an island. The costs of returning to Rutherglen to have the battery changed would have run into 100s. So we used a local. This was made clear to you. I am also legally entitled to do this under my consumer rights . The battery supplied locally was not at an inflated price It was a quality battery, like for like with what was in the car, and it was at a discount price. This is opposed to the cheap low quality battery proposed by Hillington. But that sums up the company I did not try to send you an inlated bill incidentally. The mechanic billed me. It's me who is out of pocket .Please DO NOT imply that I am dishonest and trying to fleece you. How dare you . All I did was buy a car which broke down virtually immediately, but suddenly I am part of some invoicing scam??? Aye right. Your reviews across the web make it more than clear who is doing the fleecing. Had you actually checked the battery as claimed in your multi point check, and not allowed a car to go out with a failed battery there would been no issue and no billing would there? The battery was so faulty that I struggle to believe it could sit over night at your premises and start in the morning without a little help. In addition the mechanic only billed for 1hour of labour. During this hour,as well as changing the battery , he also ran diagnostics, cleared engine error messages caused by the oil being over filled during your service and drained oil to an acceptable level. Hardly inflated billing.. You state that no mention was made of a brake issue. The issue was mentioned in an email on the 14 February. Perhaps you didn't "review all correspondence" thoroughly enough. A bit like your battery checks . To help with your memory, here is the extract from the email on 14th Feb ""I would add that in addition to problems already noted in my previous email, the vehicle is now suffering an issue of faults with ABO/ anti skid system as well as a an issue where the vehicle loses power. These faults developed on Friday 10th February."" It's an email , not invisible ink This brake issue cost 128 to put right and was as follows "Carry out diagnostic check, showing mechanical fault on ABS system. Remove N/S/F front hub, clean up Reluctor ring, fit new Wheel speed sensor. Clear fault codes and test" The vehicle has barely been back a week and there are more engine system messages. I wonder what more faults and expense we have to look forward to. You state I should feel free to get in touch to discuss the issue"........I have been in touch. But it's hard to discuss anything with a person who ignores all communication except negative reviews on web sites and responds to them with lies.
