David Walker Gardens

DWG was chosen for respite for my mother who has dementia. The day before she was due home we were told she was being confrontational and shouting at a resident (who has dementia) for following her and going into her room. However she WAS following her and going into her room, she did it when we were there!!!! it's what this lady does but apparently that's ok because she's a resident and harmless...How dare my mother find that unsettling! Did I mention she suffers with dementia? She was assessed and accepted which she shouldn't have been if the staff aren't qualified or trained in dealing with "challenging" behaviour. We were told her case was being packed the night before she was leaving. We said we would pack it when we collected her. They didn't listen and packed it the night before anyway complete with greying white bra which wasn't my mother's, it was the perfect match for the clothes she was wearing which weren't hers either! I'm surprised she wasn't on the pavement when we arrived. My mother was due to go into a care home permanently but after reading the report from DWG they have turned her down.

Visited cafe today and was very impressed with both the cafe and staff. Staff were very helpful & friendly and nothing was a bother to them. A lovely comfortable place to have a fab lunch with lovely surroundings. Well done to all the staff what a great place to visit. x

David Walker Gardens is an exceptional place for people to live when they can no longer live independently on there own, First class staff and modern 21st century facilities. In my opinion after experiencing the warmth care and compassion shown to my own mum and our family it really is a centre of excellence.

Modern care home, the staff are friendly and very helpful. There is also a Starbucks cafe which is opened to the public.
