SMTA and their Scotsure warranty product are tragic! 3k in repairs in the first 9 months of owning a car - 90% of the issues were declined by Scotsure. Importantly they arent regulated therefor there doesnt appear to be any oversight or anywhere to turn when they refuse to help. The telephone operator seemed really happy about informing me that the faults wouldnt be covered and that Id have to pay. When a dealer tells you that Scotsure warranties are comprehensive please take with a pinch of salt, dont waste your money. Youre better buying from a reputable dealer that will honour their consumer rights obligations.

I do not recommend. I had a big problem with the car, obviously the guy cheated me, I wanted them to help me return the car to the dealer that sold me the scrap. SMTA replied 3 weeks after the complaint and the evidence presented that we are sorry but there is insufficient evidence to prove that the dealer is at fault and cannot help me. I have the impression that they are behind the dealers rather than the consumer. I do not recommend it, it is a waste of time and nerves.

Total waste of time. Took my complaint against a dealer with overwhelming evidence and written statement from third party. SMTA Conciliation Committee heard the case on 18th August 2021 Received two different decisions. The first in writing dated 20th August, stating, dealer no case to answer. I contested decision. Further letter received dated 27th August, stating that the committee could not reach a decision. It would be appear that the committee sided with the dealers evidence which clearly showed fact twisting to discredit me. Ignoring the facts as far as I'm concerned of deliberately not disclosing the v ehicles hidden features. The non declaration of the tyres condition on the Pre delivery inspection report and also during vehicle service which was said to have to been done the day I purchased vehicle. This I believe to be an attempt for customer to pay for the tyres. Dealer claimed that I did not give them opportunity to inspect them. They had two opportunities to check them but declared that they were of roadworthy condition. This was not the case, all four tyres perished, divot on outer wall of one tyre and a flat spot across the tread of another. Verified by Kwik Fit and witnessed by myself. Had no option but to change tyres at a cost of 424.71 also advised that vehicle would fail MOT. Dealer refused to refund me even though invoice showed the tyre faults. Also the dealers refusal to accept consumer legislation and redress, returning my traded in vehicle and refund. Also dealer advertising my old vehicle as having one owner when on fact I was the second as shown on vehicle registration document. The dealers refusal to address the situation by refusing to trying to reconcile the matter. All this appears to have been ignored by the Conciliation Committee. This shows the total disregard of the consumers concerns and failing to take the dealer to account for their actions.
