Prestwick Flying Club

Friendly club for those mad about flying! This is a members only club so please only come if prearranged. Members use this as a base to fly their privately owned aircraft. There is a club aircraft for all members to use, which is also used to get people interested in flying with air experience flights. Clubhouse is comfy with self service tea and coffee in a lounge beside a briefing room and ops area.

Unbelievable experience, The team are really nice. I had Ross as an instructor. He knew his stuff. It started off with an in office briefing showing how to use the controls of the aircraft and some basic information about the aircraft. We then got headsets etc and taken to the aircraft. (It is a tight squeeze). We then spent some time doing pre flight checks (I watched and learned). You could hear the instructor and air traffic control. As we taxi on the run way we discussed the dials gauges and the controls. The instructor took off while I held the controls (Duel control aircraft). To feel what was happening with pedals etc. Once the aircraft reached 85 knots (Speed) and around 800ft altitude (Hight) I was given control of the aircraft. We climbed to around 1800ft and then had around 30/35 minutes of flight time. We travelled from prestwick Airport to turnaway to the cost then followed the coast line back to prestwick. The views were incredible. The instructor took back control for landing. This was my first experience of flying and my first lesson and I cannot rate the experience highly enough. The staff where so friendly that they even invited us (Myself and my wife) to drop in for a cuppa when ever we where in the area even just for a chat. Highly rate this place and I am know actively looking into purchasing more lessons.
