I was issued with (brand new)
In the early 1970's
Say seventy-one or two
All through the next four decades
I wore them as required
I wear them still from time to time
Though I am now retired
I wore them in the park today
While walking with my dog
The rain was pouring from the sky
The grass was like a bog
When I got home, my coat was soaked
But (and I tell no lie)
When I took off my wellie boots
My feet were still bone dry!
