Sea Kayak Oban

Fantastic paddling experience with Laura and Phil in what was initially very scary and intimidating tidal waters, two days later and it was incredibly fun and confidence inspiring. Will be back again!

I recently attended the Rough Water Sea Kayaking course which included the British Canoeing Sea Kayak Award and can't recommend it enough. I previously had done some sea kayaking with friends but never had formal tuition and couldn't believe the difference it made to both my technique and confidence. In only a 2 day course with packed in a lot including efficient forward paddling, turning in the wind, rescue practice and learning about swell and weather conditions whilst taking in the beautiful scenery around the Islands of Easdale and Kerrera. On my particular trip there were 3 clients along with Laura and Phil our instructors who provided personalised feedback on our paddling. Looking forward to booking onto my next course with Sea Kayak Oban soon!

Booked onto the Rough Sea paddling 2 day course with Sea Kayak Oban as a confidence builder after not paddling for a while. I would really recommend this course to sea kayak enthusiasts, who like me, could do with some upskilling from highly skilled paddlers. Sea Kayak Oban provide a team whose local knowledge and great coaching abilities encourage rather than discourage student paddlers. Laura and Phil from Sea Kayak Oban, obviously love sea kayaking and take pleasure in passing on their skills to people taking part in their courses. My paddling skills and confidence improved over the two days with the range of tasks and practice that our small group undertook. Safety and looking after our group was always taken into account but not at the expense of allowing us to improve our sea kayaking skills. Loved the course and the local scenery and wildlife (two otters on our second day). Big thank you to Laura and Phil for a very worthwhile and informative couple of days paddling!

We had a brilliant day out kayaking with our instructor Phil. I was with my two children who had never kayaked before and I had never sea-kayaked before. We went on the sea-kayak experience day. Our booking had to be changed due to concerns about weather conditions but communication was excellent about rearranging our day. Phil was very patient and explained everything really well. He was very knowledgable about the local area and told us loads of interesting facts. We kayaked up the coast to Ganavan for lunch and then managed a trip over to Kerrera before returning to Oban. This was a great day out which I would highly recommend.
