My friend and I stayed at Oban Backpackers for two nights during our road trip of Scotland. We were absolutely blown away with the hostel and Oban in general. The hostel has a really friendly and cosy vibe with colourful sofas, huge houseplants and an open fire. We hung out in the communal area a lot watching movies and knitting. Everyone was so friendly and down for a chat. The staff were so friendly. My friend got locked out of her room when we went to the loo in the night and a lovely member of staff was able to let her back in. The hostel provides a continental breakfast. Each item is 80p (such as toast, cereal or fruit) and there is free tea and coffee all day every day. This really helps set you up for the day! There is a huge map of Oban and the surrounding islands complete with boat routes between them. This is really helpful for giving context to where you are and planning island hopping. I would definitely stay at this hostel again if I found myself in the area.
