We had high expectations for this stopover as we thought staying at a converted station house would be nice and quirky. Helen was very pleasant and explained everything to us. Location was excellent as just a 5 minute walk to the Hotel of Orchy for some wonderful Scottish food & drink. However, the main negatives are for the bathroom facilities (for 10 people). Neither of the two toilets had working locks so you had to hold the door closed whilst doing your business. Also one of the toilet cisterns doesnt fill properly so if you need a second flush youll be waiting around in there for a good 10 mins. Also the lock on one of the two showers doesnt work so you have to lean against it whilst showering. One of the showers has very poor flow. For me, locks that dont work is ok but you have to remember this is a mixed bunkhouse so it is unacceptable when theres women there too. Hopefully these simple matters will get sorted.

A great sleepover on a budget during the West Highland Way adventure. The place is literally on the platform of an active train station. You do get one train every 1-2h. Ear plugs highly recommended as during my stay there was a service train in operation going back and forth until 2AM.There are two shared rooms with bunk beds and an adjacent shared bathroom with electric showers. There is a separate social room with a kitchen (hot drinks available) and a selection of ready meals that the owner offers for reasonable prices. It is a hostel standard and for this price it was great. No grocery store in the vicinity.

Really enjoyed our stay in the quirky bunkhouse. So atmospheric being on the platform. The bunk room was comfy and warm. We were sodden after 33 miles running through rain but everything dried well on the racks. Showers were fine. Helen is lovely, cooked us a fabulous goulash, home made bread, and breakfast was great. I especially liked the Jura bean to cup coffee m. Id recommend, if you are looking for an authentic bunkhouse night.

Trying to offer a compassionate review here. If you are looking for a place on the WHW thats inside -out of the rain and midges- this is it. If not , for this price, keep hiking- or tent camp behind the Hotel. We stayed in the only single room available. Room was not even close to clean. Dirty shower. Dirty floors. Dirty sheets. It had not been genuinely cleaned in quite some time. Dont look under the bedssuper nasty. We woke in the AM to a smell that indicates theres still a back up in sewer system. We left as soon as the sun rose. That being said, there was a sign on the wall noting that management had been ill- and thorough cleaning was not possible. However, the reviews appear to note this has been an issue for quite a few years. This place could be awesome. But, current management is not making that happen. Keep hiking.
