Prior to the 5 tier lockdown restrictions coming into place in Scotland, we managed to escape and enjoy a 2-night getaway to Glencoe, which is approximately 30 miles north of the hotel. As soon as we drove through the island gates, we could tell we were arriving somewhere special, and although we knew the hotel was situated on its own island, we didnt actually think about the small bridge we would have to drive over to get there (this did terrify us a little!). Thankfully, we made it in time for our 6pm reservation which meant we could enjoy some welcome drinks along with some canapes on the front lawn in the sunshine, before being seated for our meal at 6.30pm. The menu itself is a 3 course set menu with 4 options to choose from for each course. We each decided to get something different so that we could taste and judge each other's food choices. However, one dish that really caught our attention was the Lobster special. Neither of us had ever tried lobster before (and where better to try than at a Michelin Starred restaurant?) but neither of us wanted to give up our starter choice either... After much deliberation, our waitress came to the rescue and suggested we upgraded our meal and add this dish as its own course to share! It was devine! All of the dishes were plated beautifully and tasted absolutely stunning - one of our favourites was the Apple Tart Tatin (apparently also a huge hit with the hotel residents - it never gets removed off the menu!). If youre visiting this corner of the world - its certainly worth the travel for such a treat!
