  • (Translated by Google) Accidental stop. Scottish picture. Sheep stream few houses a narrow road with bays to allow passage and a red phone box with a phone I didn't check if it still works but so simple so beautiful everything natural fits and in place. Reminds a bit of images from the classic movie local hero. Those who haven't seen it should search and watch with great music by Mark Knopfler and a simple and innocent plot. It's worth bothering to search and find and watch. Then you understand the pictures a little differently. (Original) . . . . . . .

Stayed here in July with a young family. First half of the week superb weather and took advantage of the excellent beach below, but take your walking boots. Second half, back to traditional Scottish weather but that was fine. Skin is water proof and didnt stop us exploring places such as the Smoo cave, John O'Groats etc and walking up the small hill behind and visiting the trig point. Was also a great base for cycle training in the early mornings, plenty hills to plough through. The cottage itself was spotless on arrival, homely, spacious and comfortable, with hot showers and comfy beds. Plenty towels and bedding provided. What more does one want when on holiday? It was very quiet at night, as expected for a remote area so a good nights sleep is a definite. The garden is gated and fenced off so secure if you have dogs. Some small critiques which can't be really helped, is that parking is limited. We had two cars, so was a small squeeze to make sure off the path and road. If you have one car, you will be fine. You will be on the NC500 route, so at times, expect busy periods with convoys or traffic passing through. This is mostly through the day. Peters off by late afternoon, so by dinner time, quiet again. The back garden is terraced which is not too good for small kids, but the space available on the grass is big enough for them to play about on. Just watch the drop at terraced wall. If no kids, for adults its ideal to sit outside in as its a natural sun trap.

A very well appointed cottage and very comfortable. Well behaved dogs are allowed and the garden, though small, is very secure. Being fairly remote the full Sky package was welcome in the evenings. We had a really good week and recommend that this is a good place to stay.Downside? Being woken by Red Deer stags calling in the field across the road in the early morning
