Beltane House is Papa Westray's hostel and a real community hub. Forget youth hostels with bunk beds, it's as comfortable as any guest house and you can't miss breakfast when you're the one making it! The kitchens are clean and well equipped, the shop next door sells everything you need and the location is central to everything on the island - the island's only bar opens in the dining room from about 8pm on Saturday nights. They'll arrange lifts from the ferry (2.5 miles) and airport (1 mile) or just walk if it's fair weather. It's a pity so many people drop by the island on the World's Shortest Flight (Westray-Papa Westray) without staying to enjoy the relaxing and friendly environment.

We stayed in a camping bothy here and we had an excellent time. Getting to the island proved a little unpredictable but the owners worked with our flight cancellation/changes quickly and were very reassuring. The bothy had a more private feel than the main guest house which we enjoyed. A wonderful view too! We still had access to clean bathrooms and showers inside, as well as a well stocked kitchen. The owner even found us some bikes to use while we were there! Everybody we encountered on the island was perfectly friendly and the whole property was well taken care of and clean. Highly recommended, even if it wasn't the only place to stay ;)
