I felt so lucky to find this shop on Westray, just a few hundred yards from where we were staying, immediately after lockdown has sort of ended. A beautiful, original and inspiring shop, full of sea-washed Orkney patterns and colours, patterns and local creativity. The sophistication and designer feel of the knitwear surprised me - and then I realised the two sisters who run the shop trained at cutting edge art and textile colleges, so honed their fashion sense and skills there. The knitwear is really wonderful, with Westray colours and shapes (like the wave imprint patterns on beaches) embedded in design and borders. This is somewhere to get really niche knitwear that looks really cool and has that unmistakeable air of designer quality too. The sweaters are crisp and soft at the same time, with a mix of silk and lambswool making them really comfortable. I loved everything so much I also bought headbands, wrist warmers, candles, soaps, and cards and in fact did most of my Christmas shopping here! I am definitely going to get more on mail order. A real gem of a shop for people, in Kirkwall and Westray too.
