I asked for a gas engineer. The employee that attended wasn't qualified to work on a boiler. He said the office would have to send someone else. Fortunately I managed to get the boiler working by myself.

Be warned! I called Postcode Plumbers on behalf of my friend who suffers with depression and anxiety, after her emptying bath had dripped water through her kitchen ceiling light fitting. The boss, John, told me he would go straight there (about one mile away from his office in North Berwick). He found a blocked bit of pipe and ordered a small part to replace this, which he did a couple of days later, taking a man called Wayne with him. My friend was given a bill for just over 355, which included for a call-out charge of 75 and labour at 55 per hour, plus a small amount of parts. I called into their office to question why they had charged such a lot of money for such a small job and found John to be very unpleasant and argumentative - to such an extent that I had to open the door onto the street so that the people outside could hear him shouting at me. John did reduce the man hours by 55 - but, I have since been given reason to believe that the 'colleage' Wayne who he took with him, might not be a plumber or even an employee of the company! Maybe one for Trading Standards, I think.
