Otter Cottage Holiday

This is a lovely, clean and comfortable cottage with everything we needed. The location is lovely with easy access to the town but also lots of walks that can be done from the doorstep or just a short drive away. We were delighted to spot a kingfisher a couple of times from the cottage. The river rose dramatically during a storm but was nowhere near causing a flood. The walk around the RSPB site at Wood of Cree was particularly magical. We stayed for 2 weeks and had a great holiday.

What a fantastic find! After booking this super little cottage, we were delighted to find on arrival that it was everything we hoped for and more. Mornings and the sunset evenings were spent outside watching and feeding the ducks on the river, and when we did venture out from this centrally located cottage in Dumfries and Galloway, there was plenty of things to do all within an 30-60 minute drive. Closer to the cottage are 3 supermarkets and some tasty cafes and restaurants all within walking distance. This fully equipped cottage is a gem. The owners Allison and Ken have thought of everything and were exceptional in their communications from the moment we had booked their lovely cottage. A definite stay when we come back to Dumfries and Galloway. Thank you both for a wonderful week in Otter Cottage

We are very busy in our working lives, so relaxing by the water reading books, magazines with a good pair of binoculars by the river was great. A generous complimentary box of goodies was a great start. Sit outside at night and listen to the salmon leap, or in the morning with a coffee and a gaggleof quacky ducks come up to the waters edge for their breakfast, challenged by Arctic terns and gulls for the scraps. There is a large humped piece of rock protruding high above the water acrossfrom the cottage, where a magnificent Heron visits daily, arching his neck and patrolling the water for any unsuspecting fish below. The bed was comfy and incidentally the Hypnos mattress is the same brand as Premier, Mrs M was nosey not me....... What more do you need? Clean, bright and welcoming. Amenities are a few minutes walk away and there is plenty to do further afield if you are willing to drive. (Although not needed) The owners have made every effort to make us feel welcome and with a wood burner, and river views complete with an outside sitting area; finding some peace and tranquility is not a difficult task. If you are lucky enough to get the weather their are many walks waiting to be discovered that are easily accessible even to the novice walker. Great holiday for a couple. We will be back.
