Not our first visit to this stunning house and I genuinely hope not our last! Part of a larger group - 10 of us in total sharing this beautiful place for the weekend - its one of those gems which is homely and comfortable but also incredibly spacious, allowing you to enjoy the company of your friends but also take time out, when youre feeling like you want some quiet time. The ground floor has loads of space and rooms for socialising, chilling out, eating and drinking, the reception hall with its grand staircase was great for photos and lingering chats, the living room is very comfy (too comfy if youre planning to have an active weekend!), the dining room was perfect for our party of ten and a very special birthday meal, as was the informal breakfast room, looking out into the garden and both adjoining the well equipped kitchen - we didnt take much advantage of the tv/games room (the company was too good), but even this room is pretty luxurious whilst cosy... Bedrooms - huge, beautifully decorated and appointed - mattress (therefore my sleep) made me think; its definitely time to review the one I have at home!!! Really didnt want to get up! Plenty of piping hot water and shower was just perfect, strong flow and none of that awful warm, hot, cold nonsense.... I may sound evangelical, but can honestly state, Dalkeith House is one of, if not the best accommodation Ive had the good fortune to stay in! Immaculate and perfect in every way!
