I asked Elliot to install a Hive smart thermostat on my combo boiler. The price was agreed and Elliot arrived as scheduled. I initially thought that the job would take an hour or so. After 3 hours he indicated that he couldn't do it as he didn't understand the boiler. He didn't accept any payment which was fine. About 4.45 in the day I noticed that the heating hadn't come on, and that there was no hot water. I contacted Elliot with the error code indicated on the unit. He said he would check it and get back to me. I got a message from him a few minutes later to say that he couldn't find that error code and would come back and look at it the following day. About 30 seconds with Google showed the error code to be a wiring fault. By now it was about 5.20. I asked him to come and look as it now as the overnight temperature here was to drop to about 3/4 degrees, and my elderly mother in law was staying with us. Elliot said he only worked till 5 pm. The following day I contacted him first thing to confirm he was still coming. He said that he was but had another job to do first. In early afternoon I contacted him again to confirm that he was coming and got no reply. He did not accept my calls. If you do think about using Elliot I'd suggest you confirm that he has some experience of your boiler. Please also ensure that he leaves your system working. I ultimately had to pay a specialist boiler engineer to replace the wiring he had removed during his work. Would I recommend or use again - not on your life. Service: Heating system installation
