I had the misfortune to attend this horrible bigoted school from 1970 - 1974. Two things made me stick out straight away. 1. The level of education I came with was way higher than the equivalent age level at this school. I presented lots of certificates of education all A and A star but the current rector put me in the lowest class with all the knuckle draggers, thugs and vindictive teachers. The second thing that made me stick out? I was English. I was assaulted by the same three thugs everyday, the teachers made me stand on a chair and read Rabbie Burns so everyone could have a laugh and humiliate me even more. The teachers would find any excuse to give me the strap, some even stood on a chair to get extra height. The home internationals? England v Scotland ? I dreaded it .When my parents complained? They were told it was all my fault. Show any initiative, willingness to learn ? It was soon knocked out of me. I came to this school with a solid educational base, lots of confidence and willingness to learn. I was already looking at university but no, I could not wait to leave. With a strange turn of events I left Scotland a week later and hitched to Algeria to spend 15 years in the French Foreign Legion. I channelled all the hatred I had for this school, the 3 tough guys, the way it failed me, the country, stupid marches, religious bias etc etc to get through selection. I will always despise your school and what it stood for back then, it robbed me of a different life. However, I now live in France, I speak 6 languages and I have a degree in forensic psychology so maybe I should be saying thank you.
