Rooms: Rooms are really clean and comfortable, though give off a slightly 70s vibe (which I like). The showers are warm and the rooms have all the storage you may need. Nearby activities: Montrose is really close to other towns and has a rail link to the larger cities, although I am unsure of the facilities in Montrose other than the bars as I was there for goose shooting. Safety: Very safe place to be and has panic buttons in the halls for emergency. Walkability: The main town is well within walking distance, we has someone with walking difficulty in our group and still was an easy walk to restaurants in the evening and to the train station. Food & drinks: The food is amazing and it is no hassles to ask for adaptations, there is Juice and cereal ready for if you want to eat before main breakfast and even toast with jams and jellies. Noteworthy details: The owner (Amy) is really nice and nothing is too much of a hassle, she is very welcoming and the beds are really comfortable to say the least. There are electric showers so that you do not have to crack the enigma code to get the right temperature.

We booked this guest house as a group of six, visiting Montrose for three nights. Bookings were confirmed and e mails of confirmation sent and received as little as a few days before our arrival. ( dates confirmed as 9th,10th and 11th. November.) We drove for 9 and a half hours, from Hampshire and arrived just before 2pm. One of our party telephoned AMY, the proprietor. From the conversation, it was clear that there was a problem. There was no one to answer the door in the guest house and AMY stated that she would be there in 10 minutes. Sure enough, a few minutes later she appeared, looking flustered. She stated that she had " forgotten" our booking. It had "Slipped her mind", even though she had confirmed less than a week earlier. The rooms were all being refurbished and she had no room for us. Needless to say we were all very angry and disappointed. There ensued a number of panicked phone calls and eventually she managed to negotiate rooms for us at a different guest house. Poor show AMY.
