Superficially this home looks fine but spend time or talk to staff and it gives cause for concern. I wonder if the positive reviewers visit every day? If they experience how long it takes for an older person to get assistance for toileting? If they have seen people sit clustered in wheelchairs around upstairs lifts for long periods of time with just music blaring for stimulation, unable to move ? If they have walked by the young peoples section and heard someone scream and scream with no one responding? Or been there in the evening and seen staff nearly in tears because bells ring constantly and there are not enough staff to cope - but they are frightened to speak out?

My mother has lived at South Grange for over 4 years now. The standard of care has been consistently excellent. Senior management are always approachable and thoroughly professional. Recent improvements to the decoration and facilities in the home mean the overall impression is of a smart, professional facility and staff are generally very kind and skilled at managing my mother's needs.

The best carehome I have visited. Everything about South Grange is warm and inviting and our relative is so well cared for that by all the staff. Visiting is a pleasure and Staff always have time to pass on any information or have a chat to find out anything they may need to know. I just wish all carehomes were to this standard.
