Roy Montgomery Architecture

I recently employed the services of Roy Montgomery for an unusual development project, that involved seeking both planning consent and a building warrant . Roy couldnt have been more helpful and knowledgable and the whole process went very smoothly from start to successful completion. I cannot recommend Roy highly enough !

We decided we wanted a kitchen extension, but live in an old semi-detached house in a conservation area. We wanted the extra space, but did not know how this could be achieved. Roy visited promptly , when we posted our job. He listened to what we wanted, had a clear understanding of the conditions which would be required, and came up with a design which was better than we had originally imagined. After the lengthy planning process, he found two builders who quoted for the job, though both were much more expensive than we had originally been told to expect. Fortunately we found a more reasonable one ourselves, through a friend who had recently had work done. We are delighted with the outcome. It is hard for us to comment further as we have had no other experience of using an architect's services, though everything seemed to be done efficiently, and communication was good. The builder did feel that he had been left to work out for himself more than he expected but fortunately had the skills to do this.

Roy worked with us throughout our planning process and was responsive, thorough and professional at all times with us. He took the time to explain options and their implications, whether positive or negative and we always felt like our project was in good hands with him. The design that he put together for us was just what we were looking for and I would have no hesitation in recommending Roy for your architectural project regardless of its size or complexity.

We had Roy organise a couple of add on rooms, (a lounge and a bedroom) to our 70s end terrace in 2019. It involved a couple of breakthroughs and a bit of redesign within the main structure. I sourced Roy through BARK after speaking to a couple of other architects. For us Roy was the best communicator, most personable and on our wavelength. He was quick to tune in to our suggestions and always keen to offer alternatives with good detail. Our build pretty much went to plan but wasnt without challenges however Roy was reassuring throughout which made for a pleasurable experience. As with other reviews I would completely agree Roy showed enthusiasm for the project which for us was very important. I would highly recommend Roy if youre after an honest, professional service.

We worked with Roy on an extension to our home. We were creating a new entrance, extending our hall space, adding a new en-suite downstairs bedroom and extending our living space. We were extremely happy with his work. I would say I was quite a demanding client as I had very definite ideas of what I wanted us to achieve without necessarily having the matching budget. Roy managed to find a way to draw and exceed my hopes and dreams for the project and as a family we are absolutely delighted with the results. It has transformed our house. Delighted to recommend Roys services as in our experience he goes above and beyond to meet clients needs. We interviewed a few architects for this job and whilst Roy wasnt the cheapest he impressed us most and in the end I think we got a lot more than we paid for on our job. Roys genuine enthusiasm for the job came through at our first meeting - he was excited by our plan and was keen to see it done and I have to say that this enthusiasm was genuine as long after his invoices were all paid and our involvement with the job was finished he was still in touch as he was interested in seeing how the job turned out.
