Holly Tree Cottage

We stayed in the village of Straiton for a long weekend. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised to see the fire made up and ready to light. In next to no time we had a log fire on the go and a lovely toasty room. The owner is really friendly and easy to deal with. The cottage was clean. I'd recommend this cottage to anyone who was planning to stay in the area.

The place is fantastic. They left the fire set for us to light as soon as we arrived. And we spent about two hours exploring the house as soon as we got in. It is screaming with style and atmosphere. Everywhere you look something has been left to read, or discover. The fire is the focal point downstairs, and they left a full stock of firewood, lighters, and newspaper, yes and matches. There are oil filled radiators in each bedroom. But you don't need them. And every inch of the place has been put together from old fashioned fittings and fixings. Even though, the place has washing machine, modern cooker, dish washer, sky TV, internet, dvd. There are books, like you wouldn't believe all through the house. I love it! Charming cottage with lovely mixture of old and new lots of authentic touches. The main attraction had to be the log burning open fire which was already set with logs for our arrival and a starter supply of kindling and logs. Excellent supply of towels etc. Loved the pictures and painting which a lot of them turned out to have been done by family members.

We have stayed at this property on several occasions.....The owner is always pleased to accommodate any requirements. She will always make sure you have everything you need. The cottage really is a home from home, so well equipped. The owner lives nearby but never intrusive. A kind hearted person. We will be back in the new year. Can't rate the property highly enough. A good base for the area, great walks etc. The locals are friendly. Ayrshire is very beautiful with great attractions and places to eat.
