Russel is for me the embodiment of the perfect and kind British gamekeeper. He is highly enthusiastic about what he is doing and happy to share his broad knowledge about the Grouse and Lewis and its wildlife in general.
We have now been visiting Lewis for four times and the more often I go, the more I am convinced that Russel is certainly not guiding for the sake of the financial aspect, but because he is genuinely and deeply passionate about what he is doing and wants to share this with other interested people.
Writing this, I already start making plans to travel up to Lewis again this autumn for the rut and the grouse...
