Firstly, the Nationwide Building Society is just about the only financial institution that isn't closing High Street branches... Something to think about when you want to do 'traditional banking', however infrequently. Secondly, the Nationwide Building Society is a mutual society. Any profits are either put back into the business or used to benefit the people who bank there... That May be why they aren't closing branches; no shareholder dividends to maintain. Finally, you get honest & helpful banking there... That may be because they aren't just out to make a profit out of you.

Congratulations to Branch Manager, Anna, and her team for their sensitive assistance when I turned up at the branch to notify them of the death of my mum. They seamlessly organised the switch of the joint account into my dad's name and generally looked after him with care and affection. And Anna helpfully sprinted after us into the street when we forgot to take the original death certificate. Thank you!

My sister tried to transfer money to her solicitors to buy house she was asked for id which was either a passport driving licence or credit card at 78 years old she had neither so couldn't go ahead with her transaction the girl in office wouldn't accept any other id this is discrimination against the elderly we will try again if not accepted she will close her account.
