Waters Edge in Brae is an outstanding holiday home and one of the best we have ever stayed in. The view from the living room is wonderful, from which you can spot many birds and wildlife over the water. The holiday home is of a very high standard and the owners have made sure you have everything you need for a perfect holiday. Brae has a lot of amenities, including an excellent fish and chip shop close by and even electric car charging points within walking distance. Brae is also a good central base to visit all parts of the islands. We would thoroughly recommend a stay a Waters Edge.

Shetland/Glover Lodges have a variety of accommodation throughout the mainland and Ive had the pleasure to stay in two over the last 4 months. Waters Edge in Brae and Stocketgaet in Lerwick. Both totally different and both fabulous, something for everyone. Waters Edge is just perfect. Quiet cul-de-sac with the most beautiful view. I was fortunate enough to see the otters playing in the garden and the orca playing in the sea as well as swimming with the seals every day from the little beach at the bottom of the garden. The property is well situated for the local village amenities and immersing yourself in the beautiful scenery of the central/north mainland. The house itself is very modern and kitted out with everything you would need to entertain yourself if the weather turns and you cant enjoy the outdoors. Stocketgaet is also modern and kitted out with everything you could think of for a comfortable stay. Its in a quiet residential area in Lerwick. Plenty parking and a short drive or decent walk to the town centre. Well situated for everything Lerwick and the surrounding area has to offer. Both places immediately felt like home and the owners are lovely. Very friendly and accommodating, especially during a pandemic, and always full of useful local information. Already recommended to others and would definitely stay again.

We stayed at Water's Edge in Brae for a week in July. It is truly a magical place. The garden backs directly onto a beach overlooking Busta Voe, giving the most spectacular views across the bay. We never saw another soul on that beach apart from the playful local otters. However, we did not lack for company, as we saw every different kind of wildlife, including seals, arctic terns, fulmar, skuas, razorbills, cormorants and more. We spent a lot of time just looking out from the beach or the living room and kitchen window. The house itself is in beautiful condition with lovely interior decor and everything you need, including wifi, smart TV, washing machine, well equipped kitchen, lovely toiletries from the socially consicous Shetland Soap Company and so on. It is located in the village of Brae, which has a great chippy, two good grocery shops including a Co-op, a couple of nice pubs and a leisure centre. It is centrally located in Shetland, so easy access to all the sights, including puffins at Sumburgh, just a short drive away, and Eshaness cliffs. The island of Muckle Roe with its rose coloured stone, blue pools and unbelievable diversity of wildflowers was one of our favourite days out. I really cannot recommend this place enough we hope to be back soon, so my only reservation in promoting it is that I just hope that it won't get completely booked out. :) Thanks to Rebecca and John for such a wonderful place to stay and for making it so welcoming and easy. (And do also use Jackie Taxi, who is a great local taxi driver, born on Shetland and can give you all the local stories and information.)
