I stayed here for 1 night at 63 with a grab & go breakfast. I had a few issues with my stay though nothing major. At 10pm there was a power cut for a couple of minutes and my plug in alarm clock reset; it meant I kept waking up thinking I might miss my 6am alarm so not a great nights sleep. However the bed was very comfortable and the room wasn't boiling hot. I found the toilet didn't flush properly, the big button stuck down and it took me a few tries to get it to release, the small button was fine and that flushed ok. Again it was more an annoyance than a problem till I realised what was wrong. At about 5.30am I opened the window to the room and couldn't work out how to close it again as it wouldn't pull closed so I left it open. If I'd opened it at night then it'd have been a problem with the traffic noise from the M74. Overall though, aside from the few minor niggles, it's a good location, great value for money and you don't hear any noise from the other guests. Yes you do hear the M74 traffic but that's not the hotel fault, it's the location and you know that before you book it. The grab and go breakfast, which is free, is also a nice addition. It was definitely worth the money and I'd stay here again.

First visit here and was very impressed. The restaurant was clean tidy and welcoming with a roaring wood burner to warm the room. We were seated quickly and drinks ordered, menus arrived. The food came and was beautifully presented and piping hot. All of our party were very impressed with the portions and taste of the food being exceptional. The meal was reasonably priced with two courses plus drinks being around 100. I would highly recommend The Old Schoolhouse, for its quaint charms, fantastic staff and the food and service being superb. You won't be disappointed Food & drinks: Great quality, reasonable priced and fabulous engaging service
