Five of us, all adults, stayed here for four nights in early June, with two small dogs, and we LOVED it, couldn't believe how brilliant the house was when we arrived. We felt just as comfortable there as we do at home, there was no sense of having to tip toe around the place, it was so welcoming. We were delighted with the decor, spaciousness, decorative objects, and pictures on the walls, it was fun looking through the books and knowing they belonged to past inhabitants of Barrock House. The kitchen is generously equipped, (very good pans!). The armchairs have seen better days comfort wise, but no one cared, and a shower would be practical for speed and efficiency, but it's an old place and it's all part of the charm. Occasionally we'd happen upon the owner, Louise, in the grounds, and what a lovely person she is, a very pleasant neighbour, informative and helpful, we didn't feel as if we were being monitored in any way. The grounds are fun to explore, it's amazing what is hidden in those trees! We all slept well, and actually, when we went on day trips I think we were a little reluctant to leave. The dogs revelled in the space outside, they ran and ran with the owner's dog, they had a great time too. We want to go back again next year, because it is a great place to stay in.
