We did a 2 hour fishing trip with skipper Michael and Duncan. It was great being out on the boat and having a go at fishing. Michael was very informative and full of interesting facts about the wildlife, surrounding islands and other random things! We felt very welcomed and had a fun afternoon. Thank you!

A friend and I booked this last year when we were staying in Scotland for the first time all the way from south England. The morning we were supposed to do it my friend's car broke down which meant we couldn't make the booked time, and they let us change the time free of charge - I do give credit for that. Then when we arrived we ended up on the wrong side of the bridge (Kyle of Lochalsh instead of the Skye side of the bridge) because when we booked the tickets (only a few days before) it had said "the boat is currently departing from Kyle of Lochalsh". However, we were blamed for this. The company took no responsibility for the sudden change of information which led to the misunderstanding. Once we arrived I couldn't do the trip because it was unsuitable for my disability. I hadn't mentioned my disability in advance because (at least at the time) I didn't actively think of myself as "having a condition", it's just completely second nature to me (just as second nature as having to say "painful sensations are painful"), plus I think places/services should strive to be accessible by default and it shouldn't be seen as an individual issue of the disabled person; however I still take responsibility for not thinking to mention it in advance (not that I intentionally didn't mention it, it genuinely didn't come to mind because like I said it's just my reality so I struggle to actively see myself as abnormal. My sensory pain is a part of my human condition in the same way as, say, anger and sadness are a part of the human condition - "painful noises are painful"). My issue comes with their attitude afterwards - I was spoken to disrespectfully as I was repeatedly told that I'd "inflicted hurt on people", in the sense I'd consciously/in my control done something wrong, which isn't the case. The receptionist/manager/whatever their title is very ableist, as she talked about my disability as "making a scene" and hurting people in a conscious way, which is absolutely not the case as a sensory meltdown (which is what happened) is physically out of my control - a sensory meltdown is when the nervous system becomes so overwhelmed with stimuli that it 'explodes', it is NOT a tantrum, as it has no conscious will or control or intentional goal/end point. Neurologically it is more similar to a seizure. It is hurtful more than I could put into words (and still hurts me today) to have an instinctive/uncontrollable neurological response that is excruciating and humiliating and in and of itself traumatic as it feels like exploding inside, and then to have that be called "doing something wrong towards other people". I originally left a one star rating because I genuinely felt appalled with how I was treated after this happened - but I changed it because of the aforementioned flexibility with the timing and being able to get a refund, which I still appreciate. Today when I finally read the final message sent to me by the person who spoke to me (receptionist, manager, whatever their title is) it said "if you don't delete your review I will take legal action against you for defamation". So yes, the manager of this company thinks it's acceptable to engage in blackmail. In fact, I'm very tempted to demote this back to one star for the use of blackmail alone. I appreciate the accommodation, I really do, but how you treated me afterwards was disgusting, and I have the right to be honest about that. You have also failed to take responsibility for the information on your website giving us the wrong location. Update: they have apologised, which I really appreciate.
