Never use this company, myself and neighbours replaced a whole roof at a huge cost with the offer of a guarantee on the work, it wasnt worth the paper its written on. Con artists done a bad job and we have had Numerous on going repair costs when they refused to come, dodges calls, and previously had the business register at Roberts, eventually, ex partner therefore making it more Difficult to find! This work was down in 2014 and still causing issues!

Robert is the biggest con artist around. Seems like he did complete the job at my house, but the leak has reappeared less than 3 months later. Called and messaged him numerous time, said he would come week after week, then cancelled last minute with silly dumb excuses. And now is just ignoring me and blocked my number. I have no idea how such a thick person is trying to run a business. He is one of those guys that just has air in his head. Don't bother wasting you cash paying him just flush it down the loo instead. NO point feeding Robert AKA thicko, i'm surprised he knows what a roof is. Avoid!!!!

I searched for a decent roofer for months and got put on to a guy called Robert Montgomery from thistle roofing I needed few slates repaired and sorry work to make guttering safe. To my dismay he came and gave me an estimate which was completed successfully, he then advicided me that in the not to long future my roof was in a fit of disrepair but need money up front for material which I gladly give 1700 since that day I have had no contact with him which is over a year now I once got on the phone late one night he was very abusisve to me and threatening towards Im an 84 widow owner with no saving left that night he came to my door threading me Im only concerned that this person can do this to any one if u have had work done by horrible human please get the the work checked and share this story as I would like this to happen to anyone else Im happy my roof was repaired by mclaren roofing as they done a top job

Approached this guy Robert Montgomery (now runs his business in the name of Diamond roofing In Kirkcaldy) for his lowest quote. I thought I needed a roof replacement as it was quite old. 1) After stripping off the old roof started demanding for money before the job is complete. A good tradesman would never do this. 2) Took six months and still couldnt complete the job 3) Would come up with random excuses( van broke down, loved ones admitted to hospital, loved ones died, bad weather etc) and would only show up on the dates of his convenience 4) Quote exceeded 20% from the agreed quote after starting the job 5) Swears at work and does care customer satisfaction 6) Left with heavily leaking roof that Im having to approach trading standards and other professional roofers to fix. 7) He would use unqualified/inexperienced roofers and would barely spend time at the site himself 8) Lawn unusable due to thousands of nails thrown away during work. 9) Garden plants walked over. A roof that never leaked before left heavily leaking at multiple spots ruining the complete ceiling. After buying our first home in September 2017, I found out that the whole roof was basically caving in. So after a lot of stress and searching the internet to find a roofing company that could do a full roof replacement, I decided on Thistle Roofing. BIG MISTAKE! The original quote given to us by them was 3900 and they wanted 2950 upfront to cover the cost of materials, which I handed over believing this company was genuine and honest. They turned up on the first day to start the job and asked for a further 950 to buy boards for the roof that I was led to believe was already included in the original price so again, I handed it over because I was led to believe that it was my misunderstanding. As this was going on, my husband was working away at sea with no way to contact him and discuss the situation and I was home on my own. Everything was going well, they stripped the roof, re-boarded and felted it with no issues. Then, they started to not turn up, I put this down to bad weather as it was raining. After this, they continued not to turn up and gave me excuse after excuse such as they had been to the rangers game the day before and were hungover, their van had broken down although on the phone it sounded like they were driving, relatives were in hospital and the list goes on. Then, the excuses stopped and they just stared blatantly ignoring me for hours every day until I would send enough texts that I finally got a reply at night time with no explanation of why, just saying that they would be out tomorrow which again, did not happen. This went on for roughly 5 weeks where they would turn up for about half a day here and there, just whenever they felt like it really. I then received a text asking me for another payment of 600 to cover labour, I managed to get them to agree to 400 which I paid them because they told me if I didnt, they wouldnt come back. When I received this text, I phoned my dad to ask for advice because he works away in Aberdeen and couldnt be here all the time to help me deal with the problems with the roof. During this call with my dad, Robert Montgomery (company owner) was repeatedly calling and texting me hassling me for the money when this wasnt my responsibility to pay because it wasnt in the original agreement and I had already received such bad service. It was also one of the few days they turned up to work on the roof and when I looked outside, they had stopped working and were staring at me while sitting on my wall, this was obviously a manipulation technique in order to get me to hand over the money they wanted, even though I had already handed over more than enough. Now, 15 weeks on, another roofer has been out to look at the roof because he is going to finish the job for us. However, finishing the job is not the case because we have now been informed that Thistle Roofing have done such a bad job and a poor standard of work, that the whole roof needs to be stripped back and started again. We also have to purchase new materials again that we have only just paid for because the materials we paid for recently like the boards, felt, tiles etc with Thistle Roofing are now too damaged to use because they have been left unsecured on the roof and because of this, tiles are cracked and the felt is ripped etc. We are now having to pay a further 7000 in order for the job to be completed by a different roofer who is actually a genuine and honest worker. PLEASE for your own good, avoid this company because you will be left out of pocket and a job that should have been done months ago, still incomplete. If everyone could PLEASE SHARE so that people know to stay away from this company and stop Thistle Roofing from ripping anyone else off like this! I am 20 years old and was home on my own and I suppose Robert and his workers seen an opportunity to scam me, thinking I was a stupid little girl. I would hate to think they would do the same to an elderly or vulnerable person, so I hope in sharing my experience, this helps to prevent that ever happening to anyone else!
