Dont touch this person with a barge pole if you value your hard earned money. We pretty much made the same mistake as others (not reading reviews beforehand) where Paul Laurie will insist on customer making deposit payment send out a schedule of dates to carry out work then keep you frustratingly hanging on wasting days off by offering different excuses everyday and not showing up for weeks never mind days!!! When we asked to part ways and return of deposit we got further excuses, a foul mouth and threats! Including Paul claiming he had already bought materials for the job which was clearly a lie because when we offered for him to hand over the materials bought with receipt and remainder in cash - he wasnt doing that either obviously treating us like a charity and holding our money hostage for months!! This sorry excuse will be the sweetest to your face then after scamming deposit will treat you like dirt!! STEER CLEAR!!!

Would not use. Taking to Simple Process Court and reported to Trading Standards. We took out a contract with Paul Laurie to do the external windows and fascia of 2 houses (mine and my neighbours). We found him on rated people and saw that he had an online presence with past work. Past reviews were mixed to say the least, but we decided to give him a try. We agreed a price and a deposit was paid upfront due to the total amount of the job to pay for any materials needed upfront. This equated to around 10%. All was going well and we awaited on Paul coming and starting the work. There were issues with weather which was outwith everyones control. One day he was meant to show up he didnt arrive till midday and then left again. However, multiple times when it was dry, Paul did not show up and had a number of reasons for not doing so (childcare issues, van trouble, etc). Unfortunately, we lost any faith that Paul would ever actually start and were running out of summer time to get it done. Especially now when he said his van was damaged and didnt know when it would be fixed. We understood his reasons, (these things happen!), but due to the summer running out (and our annual leave) we amicably agreed to terminate the contract (no work had been started or materials bought) so that we could get someone more local that could actually come and do it when they said. Given the weather, someone local would have been better placed to work as well. Paul agreed and said he understood our reasons. He also agreed to return our deposit (as he is obliged to do) and come and collect equipment which was left at my neighbours house. However, when he continued to be a no show in returning our deposit, he became much more aggressive in his communications when we challenged his reluctance to return our money. We have now not heard from him in almost 2 weeks and he has yet to refund our money despite multiple attempts to try and reach him. We are now going to have to bring him to court to get our money back. As such, I could not recommend him to anyone at all. We have found him to be unreliable and untrustworthy. Now that he has stolen our deposit, we can see NO way in which we could recommend his services to anyone. We will await the results of court action.
