medical staff left a strip of pills beside my elderly confused father for hours until i found them (should be locked / secured at all times) the staff played the blame game , it was the fault of the ward that moved him to another ward, it was the dayshifts fault, it was even my late fathers fault as he wasnt swallowing them and they had to spend a long time trying (found out later thon another ward they even had a liquid alternative ! ) were' so busy were really sorry ! control of medicines is or should be a priority in any ward or hospital ! my late father could have taken them all, and until the investigation is complete i wont know if he took any or was under dosed the medications or over dosed ? i have now been waiting over 4 times the length of time they are supposed to respond within, they cant even investigate serious complaints on time, in fact having checked a local mp raised this issue, they only mange to hit 2% of the target for the government official response time to complaints, i even had a patient answer the phones at one point when i phoned in to check on my father, he said he answered it regularly as the staff never bothered, its like one flew over the cuckoos nest in there ! (some wards, not all) i found its a ward on ward lottery, some are excellent, some .......42 !..... i wouldnt want them putting a sticky plaster on for me. for ref i complained around the third week of DEC, its now the last week in Feb and they have now informed me the complaint will take at least another 21 days ! They cant get it right on ward and when they get it wrong they cant investigate it ina timely manner which means they cant identify and correct any failings for other patients safety !

All I can say is, don't get ill. Terrible service.. at one point I felt as if I shouldn't of been there and be bothering them with my illness

What to say about an NHS Accident & Emergency department? Staff are as helpful & supportive as possible. Appreciate that people will be prioritised according to need & not necessarily in order of arrival. Whenever I've been there either as a patient or accompanying a patient we've always been seen & treated as quickly as possible & in any case well within the target times.
