Friendly staff, but the price of their fuel is the most expensive in the Shell stations in the Dunfermline - Glenrothes- Leven area.

Sorry to say that today's experience was not a good one. Called into Shell Kirkcaldy to refuel. Didn't want to go into the shop, as it was busy with lunchtime diners at Subway and the convenience store, so logged in with the Shell Go app, and attempted to refuel. Pump 6 wouldn't work with the app. Replaced the nozzle and tried again. Nothing. And again, and again. The pump then displayed that I'd drawn 20.01 of E10 petrol. I hadn't. An amicable operative came out, but was unable to sort out problem. He suggested trying another pump, so I cancelled the transaction on the iPhone app. Relocated to Pump 2, and tried again. Same problem. This time the pump displayed that I'd drawn 20.01 of E5. I hadn't. Again. The previously amiable operative returned back to the pump wearily, as if to tie the shoelaces of a difficult child. When I asked what was going on (clearly a software issue) I was told that "it wasn't their responsibility" as "it's the Shell Go app".... Now I know that lots of these garages are franchised (this one is EuroGarages) but with SHELL plastered on every flat surface available, and all the staff wearing SHELL uniforms, as far as I'm concerned it's a SHELL garage. There should be someone who is trained properly, and knows how to reset the pumps. Yes, I COULD have tried again at another pump and paid in the store, but I wasn't in the mood for standing in the baltic cold for more time, then queueing in a poorly socially distanced store/caf. It's not what you expect at 151.9 pence per litre... So, off down to ESSO at Wemyssfield. SIX pence a litre cheaper, ESSO app worked first time, AND got a further five pence per litre off with some Nectar points. In and out in under 5 minutes and 3.50 better off after a 96.00 fill-up. There are 3 main brand fuel outlets in Kirkcaldy (I don't put supermarket fuel into any of my vehicles - sorry), Esso Wemyssfield, BP Saint Clair Street and Shell Hendry Road. It'll be Esso or BP for me in the future.
