I came in today to have my eye test done at the store and was really pleased with the service. My appointment was at 9am and was asked to arrive for 08.50am, which I did. I was a little worried about this because the lights were off so I thought it was closed but the team were just opening up and dealt with me straight away. I went through to the pre-checks area of the store, where the lady carried out a few tests. This involved one machine where a puff of air goes to each eye, another machine where images of your eye are taken (REALLY bright flash of light!) and a final machine where you look at a dot then say how many other dots you see around it Flashing up in intervals. I'm a bit of a panicker so I was concerned about the last one as I've never had that one before and felt like I was sitting a test (what if I get the number of dots wrong!!) but actually it was totally fine and very quick. During these tests the lady kept me updated about what each test was, what would happen etc and was very reassuring. She asked me some questions about my overall sight etc and was really thorough. After this, I was seen very quickly by the optician, Kirsty, who was amazing! Very reassuring and helpful, really knew what she was doing with the different lenses (I've had tests before where I've had a LOT of different lenses put in before they finally decide that the ones I have are OK- I've often felt in the past that I was "settling" for OK vision rather than getting the perfect prescription.) I was really pleased with the eye test and it was pretty quick. Kirsty advised that my distance vision had changed a bit and my close vision had changed quite a lot. I knew this already so was happy to know that this was being confirmed and could be "fixed". Kirsty discussed varifocals with me and I told her my concerns about them. I was worried I wouldn't get on with them - Don't worry Fiona, we do a 100 day guarantee and if you really can't use them we will make you new single vision lenses under the guarantee, no problem!. Amazing! I did also say I was anxious about them because I was worried about looking through the wrong part and either falling downstairs or crashing into a lamp post - and this is where the AMAZING service score comes in - Kirsty told me they had DEMO varifocals!!! Ones that I could try out in store to see how they would work - like taking your specs for a test drive. I was SO impressed by this so I tried them out and it made such a massive difference, both in terms of my anxiety over what they would be like and in my actual vision when wearing them to look at my phone or writing. I was really, really impressed by this and if I hadn't had that opportunity I would have stayed with single vision lenses. I then went through and chose some frames and discussed the varifocal options with the lady in the store. I chose the mid-range varifocal lenses (there are 3 different types but basically the more they cost the more of the lense is varifocal) - the mid price range also included anti-glare coating which I had planned to get anyway so that was good. There is quite a bit price difference between the 3 lense types so this is something you need to bear in mind, but if you factor in the lens coating that does make a difference. I also got a pair of prescription single vision sunglasses as I Iike them for summer driving. Finally, glasses should be ready in about 7 to 10 days. I did spend quite a bit for my glasses today, but I definitely could have had cheaper options and the lady who assisted made sure I got the best out of the deals available. Overall a brilliant experience and I would highly recommend this optician.

After having bad virus, my eye became bloodshot and swollen. As I have glaucoma I was concerned. Vision Express were so helpful, and saw me without appointment. Given good check over and assured nothing sinister to worry about. Much appreciated and impressed by staff
