The Smithy is a great cottage, well equipped and in a beautiful setting. Gail's attention to detail shows how proud she is of the Smithy and as a result the property is well maintained, very comfortable and you can instantly relax on arrival. There are so many options available using the Smithy as a base, do everything from walking, cycling, horse riding, exploring to massage and spa treatments, pilates or absolutely nothing but enjoy the peace and quiet. Gail is an attentive host who is on hand to make arrangements and offer advice. Highly recommended and will be back.

Absolutely first class. We went to celebrate our Ruby Wedding Anniversary in November. What a fabulous place. We had a very warm and sincere welcome from Gail and Adrian. There were banners, flowers, chocolates and drinks to celebrate, A beautiful basket of local produce, milk bread, butter and fresh orange in the fridge . Safe parking on the drive. Lovely and warm, beautifully decorated for Christmas. Beautiful gardens, all very safe for children. Gail asked whatcwe would like to see on our trip, and constantly sent messages of places to visit. We had a fabulous time, and can't wait to return with our family. Kelso was a lovely place too. Instructions to locate Smithy Cottage were very clear and was easy to find. Can't recommend enough, can't wait to go back.

If you are looking for first class accommodations look no further, The old Smithy has it all. Myself and 6 Other Ladies have been staying here for 3 days and we have had the best time ever. The owners Gail and Adrian are the best and the details and welcome well. Perfection Personified. We would highly recommend, if this doesnt tick every box then nothing will. Looking forward to our return trip in 2023. The cosy cottage, the Christmas Deckies, the beautiful beds and Linen, the wee touches of Lavender bags and Chocolate on your pillow Jings the list is endless. Thank you Gail you made the Polski Girls very very happy xx

The Old Smithy is the most welcoming and comfortable place to stay to enjoy a relaxing holiday in the Scottish Borders. The owners, Gail & Adrian, have thought of everything and are lovely and friendly. There is so much to do on the doorstep but also lots more within an hours drive. This trip we explored Kelso, Melrose and North Berwick. This wasnt our first visit and it most certainly wont be our last.
