DIRTY & DAMP - A SCAM ! If you enjoy damp and dirty rooms with traces of blood this is the place to stay. Upon opening the door, the smell of the damp room struck me immediately. The room was also dirty from the previous guest(s). This included leftover waste and traces of blood on the walls. At first, I only noticed the damp & waste, so I tried to air the room over night & the next morning without complaining. The next day, the terrible smell hadn't left the room. Furthermore, I noticed traces of blood on the wall beside the bed! Having booked 4 nights, I kindly explained the situation. I accepted to pay for the first night, and understandably requested to cancel the next 3 nights. This request was denied along with any form of reimbursement! As the co-head of operations for an international cleaning company, I sincerely advise you to AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST !

Booked this guest house very last minute after another hotel chain mucking up our booking leaving us with no room for the night. Paid deposit and cost of room at irvine guest house...travelled feom Hamilton and arrived at guest house half hr later and door was locked so phoned helpline and we were sent email will key safe number which on opening didn't contain a key !! Operator put us on hold trying to find a cleaner in place to see what was happening ...ended up on hold in pouring rain for 20 min so hung up and dialled again..2 nd person we spoke to told us they would phone us back ...waited another good 15 mins in pouring in with my 7 year old who has asn needs and was becoming hysterical and tried to phone back only this time they kept cutting us off !! Eventually called us back after us been trying to gain entry for nearly 1 and half hours to be told there is no room and would be given refund !! The customer service is absolutely shocking !! Taking 1 and a half hours to realise and tell us that there isnt a room available is not acceptable..we were drenched and my son was hysterical as not getting his holiday away . Not long recieved email saying that last occupant had covid so that's why they couldn't give us room ...very convenient excuse ..avoid like the plague!!
