In short the holiday home Rookery nook seemed very dated and worn was handed to us in an unclean condition (there was mould on the shower curtain) and the furniture seems to not have been replaced since the 80s, the kitchen is falling apart with the skirting board under the sink has been fitted properly, it came out and dropped onto our feet multiple times during out stay. I would not recommend this as a place as a property to live let alone go on holiday to. In long if you are interested in our full experience with both Rookery nook and Simon the landlord please read on. I am not the type of person to usually leave a bad review on somebodys business because I do believe that even if it isnt my style, Im sure its somebodys and they would enjoy their experience. In this case however I truly feel an obligation to let our experience be known after the way in which my mother, my boyfriend and I were treated during and after our experience, not only the deposit money of 520 that he is withholding but the quite frankly insulting and unprofessional texts my mother has received from the Simon the landlord. I do not believe he is a person to be trusted to let from and I would wish that no one else be put through this terrible stress filled experience with him again. I do believe he is a scammer as he has essentially scammed us out of money. Note: I will be writing multiple parts to my review as there is word limit, also i would give no stars but unfortunately i have to give one as there is no option to put none. Part 1 Our situation: We stayed at Rookery Nook during the coronavirus pandemic as we were in the process of moving from our house (close to inverness) to Glasgow. Our sale had taken place during April yet due to the coronavirus we were unable to move to Glasgow to our new property until late August although we were unsure of the exact date due to the uncertain times with the coronavirus situation happening at the time. We found the advert on gumtree it stated Rookery Nook was up for a short term let beginning with three months initially. When I talked to Simon (the landlord, letter of rookery nook) on the phone I stated our situation in which I said my mother, my boyfriend, my small Patterdale dog and I would need to stay for at least 3 months, which I thought would be perfect as this is exactly what he had advertised on his original advert. He said this was fine and suitable. However upon arrival instead of making us sign a three month contact (which we were under the impression he would have done due to the statement of 3 months initially and my phone conversation where he said it was fine) he instead insisted that we sign a contract every 28 days in order for him to not pay tax. That it would also have to be a different person in the property to sign it each time for example my mum the first month, me the second month and my boyfriend the third month. We would have preferred to sign a three month contact (which we told Simon) as of course it would be more legitimate and secure for us as we had no other place to stay for that said 3-month duration; and had planned and relied on this being available for the next three months which we were told in good confidence by Simon. Otherwise we would have found a different rented property as there were others available at the time that we had as a plan B. We reluctantly went ahead with signing the contract even though this was the first red flag and unprofessional sign from Simon, but we had already made a fairly long journey with all our belongings, so we went ahead.
