Karen was a fantastic addition to our big family celebration. We are a loud, big and somewhat chaotic family ranging from under 1 year old to 95 years old, and Karen managed to get formal and candid shots of all of us. She managed the children really well (some who were more unruley than others) and got a great mixed of shots. She was also very reasonably priced and got the pictures back to us way quicker than we'd expected!

Contacted Karen to get some profile pictures done near Inverness. What a professional photographer, responded super quick to my query, lots of suggestions, very flexible with times and locations, some great choices. Excellent head-shots, good turn around on editing and very helpful on choosing the most effective images. I really could not have asked for better service. Highly recommended

It was with great pleasure we welcomed Karen Thorburn to our club meeting this month at Images International Photography Club in The Hague The Netherlands. Karin is a professional photographer based in Inverness. Via a SKYPE connection, Karen gave us a very good and comprehensive presentation from her portfolio of Scottish landscapes with a good explanation of the Islands in and around the north of Scotland. Many images were of the Western Isles and Orkney, the Central Belt, the island of Egg, Skye, and the Black Isle. Thanks, Karen for giving our club some little close-up gems of natural interest, fabulous Landscape images, with many stories behind each of the photos, and using maps that explained not only the vicinity of the different islands but also local information along with some helpful tips for improving your compositions.

Karen was fantastic to work with from the very start- professional, great communication and friendly and kind. She gave really good tips for wedding planning; lots of things I hadn't thought of but I made changes according to her recommendations like booking an AirBnB for getting ready to allow for plenty of room and light. Karen took on board all of our ideas for photos and we came up with plans together- the wedding was at Bogbain Farm and it doesn't have the best light but Karen came to the venue the day before to thoroughly prepare which was fab! She captured our day perfectly, from getting ready, to candid photos of the guests, to the ceremony and reception. So many guests have got in touch to say how much they love our photos! Karen was so understanding and flexible when I needed to take time to look after our baby girl when I should have been available for photos. It was so lovely that she had toys with her to try to make her laugh for the photos. I would highly recommend Karen as a wedding photographer; she was so genuine, hard working and friendly, she really contributed to our day going as smoothly as it did! We really love our photos and the finished album is great quality. Thank you so much!

I attended this photography workshop yesterday. I had a really fantastic time throughout the day. The reason that I booked this workshop was because I've owned a DLSR camera for over a year and, apart from opening the box and taking a few test photos on "Auto", hadn't touched it in all that time. I think I was a bit scared of breaking it. I found Karen's website via a search engine after having been messed about by a different company that promised the earth and cancelled at the last minute. Being a bit of an introvert however, I worried about how I would manage to pass a full day in the company of a complete stranger. It turns out that I needn't have worried. Karen is a lovely happy person that immediately puts you at ease. Her mantra is to ask anything and that there's no such thing as a stupid question. I tried my best, but she answered all my questions and concerns with a professional and informative manner. We visited six different locations throughout the day (including our lunch stop). Karen selects ideal locations that are really picturesque and also allow you to get the best from many different camera settings. She also picked a lovely restaurant by the water where we were able to sit outside and catch some sun while we ate. An especially nice restaurant if you have a sweet tooth (as it seems we do). We were very lucky that the weather was beautiful on our day, so were able to take advantage of the sun and to discuss different effects that varying the light into the camera has on end result photos. Karen has a wealth of knowledge on her subject and it is evident from talking to her that she is in control and knows what she is doing. Her knowledge of the area is outstanding as well. I had a fantastic experience with an experienced photographer and teacher. There was certainly no strain or stress to keep the conversation going and the day absolutely flew by. I am much more confident now to experiment with my camera on my own and hopefully take my photography skills to the next level.
